Rooted in the
Sacred Earth

Nestled at the foothills of Arunachala, Tiruvannamalai sits at the edge of the Eastern Ghats — a land blessed with biodiversity, rich red loam, and a heritage of Siddha healing. Extractika harvests medicinal herbs and aromatic plants grown in this sacred soil, extracting their essence through traditional steam distillation.

Every bottle carries the memory of the Javadhu Hills, the scent of vetiver from the valleys, and the purity that only ancient land can offer.

How We Work

The Science of
Pure Extraction

Extractika employs two precision extraction methods — traditional steam distillation and cutting-edge supercritical CO₂ extraction — each chosen to best honour a botanical's unique chemistry.

01
Ethical Harvesting
Botanicals are harvested at peak potency — hand-collected at optimal times of day and season from Tiruvannamalai's forests, farms, and tribal lands. We work directly with local communities.
02
Sorting & Preparation
Plant material is carefully sorted, cleaned, and sometimes dried or macerated to optimise essential oil release. No chemicals. No shortcuts.
03
Steam Distillation
Live steam passes through the botanical charge in our distillation vessel. The volatile aromatic compounds vaporise and travel through the condenser, separating into pure essential oil and floral hydrosol.
04
Testing & Bottling
Every batch is assessed for aroma, yield, and chemical composition. Oils are bottled in dark-amber glass under inert conditions, labelled with full botanical traceability.

Supercritical CO₂ extraction is the pinnacle of modern phytochemistry — utilising carbon dioxide held at precise temperature and pressure thresholds where it behaves as both a liquid and a gas. The result is an extract of exceptional purity, potency, and complexity that steam distillation simply cannot replicate for certain botanicals.

The 6-Stage Process
01
Botanical Preparation
Freshly dried and milled plant material is loaded into the stainless-steel extraction vessel. Particle size is calibrated to maximise surface area and CO₂ contact.
02
CO₂ Pressurisation
Liquid CO₂ is pumped into the extraction vessel and brought to supercritical conditions — typically 31 °C and 74 bar (1,073 psi). Above this critical point, CO₂ acquires the diffusivity of a gas and the solvency of a liquid.
03
Supercritical Extraction
The supercritical CO₂ permeates plant cell walls and selectively dissolves lipophilic compounds — terpenes, sesquiterpenes, esters, phenolics — without degrading heat-sensitive molecules. Temperature and pressure are tuned to target specific constituent profiles.
04
Separation & Depressurisation
The CO₂-extract mixture flows into a separator vessel where pressure is reduced. CO₂ reverts to gas and separates completely — leaving a pure, solvent-free extract behind. No trace residues. No post-processing solvents required.
05
CO₂ Recycling
The separated CO₂ gas is re-compressed and recycled back into the system — making the process closed-loop, zero-waste, and environmentally responsible.
06
Quality Verification & Filling
The extract undergoes GC/MS analysis to verify chemical fingerprint and constituent concentrations. Filled under nitrogen in light-protective amber glass or aluminium vessels.

Purity You Can
Trace & Trust

📍
Single-Origin Traceability
Every oil is traceable to its exact source — the village, farm, or forest patch in Tiruvannamalai district where the plant was grown.
🌾
No Adulteration — Ever
We never blend, dilute or extend our oils with carriers or synthetics. What leaves our distillery is 100% pure essential oil.
🔬
Batch-Certified Quality
GC/MS test reports are available for every production batch — full chemical transparency, available to B2B buyers on request.
🤝
Community Sourcing
We source from Malayali tribal communities and local farmers in the Javadhu Hills — fair pricing, sustainable practices, zero exploitation.

The Javadhu Hills of Tiruvannamalai have been a living pharmacy for the Malayali tribes for centuries. Their knowledge of these plants is our greatest guide.
